Call for Submissions!
Action/Adventure Theatre seeks submissions for a third installment of the fan-favorite mini-festival, Pilot Season!
What is Pilot Season?
Action/Adventure Theatre, known for semi-improvised serial stories, such as “Fall of the House,” “Captured By Aliens!,” “Fall of the Band,” and Sidekicks!,” invites interested artists to pitch proposals for a four-weekend festival of “pilots” which will take place in the Winter of 2016. The four selected pilots will then be put to an audience vote, with the winner receiving a full production in Action/Adventure’s 2016/17 season. Past winners “Mars One” and “No Man’s Land” carried on the Action/Adventure tradition of compelling stories told over four episodes – theatre for TV audiences! This year, we’re expanding the invitation beyond the serial model - while we absolutely encourage and love multi-part stories, we also invite you to play with the format.
Have an idea for a collection of four short plays that are loosely connected thematically? Want to explore multi-media storytelling showcases, or examine the unlimited possibilities when puppets and dancers come together? Do you just generally think something might be really cool when put on stage? Now is the time to pitch that idea! Aim for the stars – “the stars” in this case being Action/Adventure Theatre, located in SE Portland.
What We Want:
A one to two page pitch of your wonderful idea for a potential theatrical extravaganza. This should a detailed outline of your Pilot and a short summary of how a full production (in the case of a serial, four episodes) might unfold.
The Deadline: August 7, 2015
To submit your pitch, email email@example.com with the subject line "Pilot Season 2015 Submission."
Submissions will be chosen by August 14, 2015.
Pilot Season will run January 21 through February 14 at Action/Adventure Theatre.
Details regarding rehearsal space and production elements will be shared with folks after the four pilots are chosen.
